Teacher's Journal: Good times With Melesha!

With God's provision and the help of good friends, I was finally able to get Melesha to Windhoek and spend a whole week with her. The aim for bringing her up was mainly to share the Gospel with her face to face and to build a good and strong relationship between us and God made both possible every day of the week. We had devotion in the morning, hangout in the afternoons with some friends and saved the evenings for the sweet long conversations, girly movies, the late night pizzas and ice-cream. Every day with this precious friend gave me a sense of Déjà vu!
She took me back to my teen years which was a great experience. I had just started high school and I was the same age as her and the young woman (Jessica, who happened to be a missionary in our small town that year chose to invest into my life and the other girls) was a year older than I am right now. I observed her and the old woman she worked with and I treasured respectfully every word and advice she gave us, meanwhile deep down I was always praying that one day God would use me to invest the truth and his words into young girls' lives just as he was doing that very moment through Jessica and Linda.
And here I am right now. Living that answered prayer. Having the privilege to see God's work, faithfulness and goodness being displayed in the lives of these girls. It always amazes me when I sit and think about it. Who had ever thought that I would be here one day? Who had ever thought that I would be apart of God's amazing Story? Who had ever thought that I could live to celebrate what God was planning to do long ago in the lives of young girls who where not even born yet when he laid that desire on my heart that year. That's how amazing God is. No one can measure the depth of his understanding. It's awesome!
I absolutely loved having Melesha over. And every relationship that I build with any of these girls I do it with the hope that our friendship will last even into their adulthood. I pray to live long enough to see what type of people they would become one day especially if they have a relationship with Christ, that's the most exciting part.
The fun thing about having a teen with you is that you get to do all the fun stuff you never do when you are just alone or some of which you just don't do because you feel a little bit...well...too old. :) . Since it was her first time into the city, we hang out a lot and we met up with some of my friends (played card games, went swimming, tried baking, watched movies, and enjoyed the sunsets.)

After a great time in Windhoek we finally drove down towards the West. Back to Melesha's home town which is Arandis. Totally the opposite of Windhoek. It's very small, quiet and peaceful. Being a lover of small towns, I always finds it very hard to go back to the city. Once I get into a small town the first thing I want to do is settle for good! But I couldn't do that because I was only there for a day which was good. I think if I would have stayed longer I would have started building a little cottage next to Melesha's house. She loved the idea and so did I. :)
During that short period of time, I got the chance to spend some time with Melesha's family who were also kind enough to host me for the night. We also met up with some old good friends for a long chat. More girls! Grace, Rejoice, and Claudia. A day in Arandis was just too short! But it was really amazing!
