Solus Christus (In Christ Alone)

Randy and Paula Borton

Randy and Paula Borton are the founder and director of Solus Christus. Solus Christus which is also know as a  “Jesus camp” because of the bible verses and biblical images hanging on walls is a ministry that takes in women who are right off drugs and waiting to gain admission to rehab programs. They provides a safe house for them. They introduce these ladies to Christ and they help them build and grow in relationship with Him. Many of these young women genuinely come to know and love Christ and many of them get healed in the process. It is amazing what God can do through each an everyone of us the moment we lay ourselves a side and allow Him to make our lives about Him, His story and His Kingdom. It is amazing how God can change lives through ordinary people who are willing to give up what they can not keep in order to gain what they can never lose. They risk it all for treasures that has eternal value. This morning we visited Solus Christus again and it was truly an amazing blessing to be able to share and encourage my sisters.

I couldn't imagine what my trip here was going to be like. I have prayed for certain things and that God would use me but my highest expectation was that it would snow. But God knew it all along. He got my every day covered. I thought the holiday was going to be all about me having a good time but God's blessing was beyond me just having a good time it includes a great investment. We can never take a vacation from sharing the Good News. The word is near us, it is in our mouth and in our heart, that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim. Romans 10:8

I am currently reading John Piper's book titled: "Don't waste your Life"
I praise God because I finally got the hard copy for FREE!
Well, it was actually a gift and is just what I need right now as a reminder for my self.
I have to always learn to live in the moment and walk in step with the Spirit as He guides.
I am more thankful because His plans for my trip goes beyond just me and what I could have ever imagined or hoped for.

On the other side of the world!

 Last day of school!
These cuties has just graduated from grade 6!!
I feel so sad that I could not be there to hug and love on them on this last day of school but I am really, really proud of them. It has been a long, fun and crazy year for both of us. So much has happened throughout this year and I do praise God for every moment we spent together. 2016 was a good year. I am looking forward to seeing them soon, next year (God willing). I am looking forward to hug each one of them. I am looking forward to hear the long Christmas stories!

First Thanksgiving

Each year Americans across the United states celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving. Many people who live far from family members travel long distances to be with their loved ones on this day. That is the best thing about Thanksgiving; spending time with family and sometimes with friends from across the world. In this case some from Africa and some from Sri Lanka. A little bit like Christmas but not really. I have learned that most families follow the tradition begun on the first Thanksgiving when the Pilgrims first came to the shores of America seeking freedom. The day is full of patriotic feelings as some parade in the streets. Many Americans give thanks for their shared blessings as a nation. Beside the roasted turkey, I think it is the time spend with family, the laughter and the awesome games and long walks that follows after that truly matters, although many have their own traditions that they follow each year. Then there is the huge roasted turkey. The meal is big and complicated but the Bradsher family could realistically pull off roasting a massive bird and cook all the sides. Brian was the cook of the day and he did an awesome job!

I woke up with a smile on my face this morning because I was celebrating my very First Thanksgiving, the American way, on American soil!
Wow... I have SO MUCH to be Thankful For!
Since I will never be thankful enough for my family, for my children and all that the Lord has done for me, this morning I was just simply thankful for the Bradsher family. Surely this has been a year of great blessings, change, great opportunities, love and unending grace!
They say sometimes you don’t appreciate what you have or the people who made a difference in your life until you stop for a moment and look back.
The day stretches out before me, full of life, excitement and great people to meet. And surely it was more than amazing!

First week!

After our departure from Hosea Kutako on Monday afternoon, we connected to our next flight in Johannes Burg but we were there for four hours before embarking on our long flight to London. In London, we connected to the American Airline and after 9 hours, we finally touched down in North Carolina. Once again, I set my foot on American soil.

It is indeed a different world, although it is not quite the America that  Hollywood portrays in movies and magazines, it is bigger and busy!

I was really, really happy to walk in Chick Fil-A the first day we landed and to have a bite of that chicken sandwich and awesome lemonade but it was much more exciting to be able to reconnect with the Bradsher family and some of our old friends that we met on our first visit here four years ago. It was also exciting to be a part  of and speak at the American Heritage Girls' gathering, to be apart of Yadkinville YMCA 5K run and to see John and Suzanne on this side of the world! On Sunday I got the opportunity to speak at One-21 church about our ministry of Community Hope School in Namibia and John preached an inspiring sermon using his wheel. The past few days has truly been a tremendous blessing and so much fun. With so much heat back home, I am also thankful that I can enjoy the cold weather!
