Light of the World

As we took the time to celebrate light and darkness during this Winter Solstice, this week for chapel I shared on John 8:12.
We may sometimes find ourselves stumbling in the dark. The flashlight dimmed and the batteries failed. None of the kids like being in the dark or worst left alone in the dark! Light means so much to us. Yet the greatest light we were ever given was and still is Jesus Christ himself, this was a great reminder for this week. That the light we need to live by comes from God Himself. We too are called to reflect that Light so we can give light to those who are in darkness.
" I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in
darkness, but will have the light of life."

An unexpected Retreat!

After the "one Day"  at our church and running in between schools, I felt completely burn out.
My only hope and silent prayers for the passed few days were nothing else but to retreat. Though such thoughts and hope was a need it seemed impossible in that moment and too good to be true but the God who knows my thoughts and needs was busy preparing something beyond what I myself could never have thought of or even imagined. Through a high school friend and my brother, He gave me the retreat I was longing for, a time away from the city, the noise and everything else and
within a day I was able to travel to the coast and stay in a fully paid accommodation. Since this was such a great gift, I couldn't help it but to bring along one of my student to share this blessing with. while there, I got the rest I needed, unload and to be still. Knowing that I have a difficult time turning off my mind sometimes even when I am away from school, it was really nice to be able to switch off for a while and just live in the moment. To refresh, revitalize and also have the opportunity for more time spent in prayer and contemplation, and rekindle my relationship with God. It was surely a gift by grace!
God's provision and kindness can some times be mind blowing and this was one of those mind blowing and speechless moments!

Character Trait: Respect

As a society, we appear to have lost the instinct for kindness and the willingness to extend the hand of friendship. A lack of respect is spreading like a disease throughout the world. Everything that’s honest and decent seems to be ridiculed.
With the Six Pillars of Character, our aim is to instill and bring back that which was once valued as important but now neglected and ridiculed.

This week we launched our second character trait which is...Respect!
As a school we made a lot of effort to ensure that it was fun but also clear and applicable for us all.
Beside knowing Christ, the program also help instill a safe and positive learning environment for students.Yellow is the new black. Which continues to be a constant reminder of the word respect wherever we find ourselves, whether at school or home.
