B2Gold-camp-Day 1

And so the adventure began…a great way to break from the normal routine, get some fresh air, and to expand our appreciation for the natural world.
We headed out on Thursday from school to Otjikoto Mine which is located in the north-central part of Namibia. It is situated approximately 300 kilometres, north of Windhoek, within the Province of Otjozondjupa. Just me, a fellow colleague, the instructor and best of all…my grade 7s!
I couldn't have asked for more because this moment with them felt unreal and the excitement filled the bus with songs, riddles and funny jokes. They talked, laughed and sang all the way!
For many, a camping trip was somethings special and out of this world.
From the moment we arrived, I instantly felt more relaxed and between the abundance of sunshine, the smiles on everyone’s faces and the gorgeous sight of nature, almost everyone stopped to breathe it all in as a sign of appreciating the beauty of nature and its wonders.
The first day was more relax because we didn't have to put up tents or run around to prepare an evening meal but all was set up and prepared for us ahead of time. :)

The first thing we did was divide the students in to two teams and each team had to go out in nature and as a team they had to work together to find some inspirations from nature and come up with a team name (which had to be an animal) but also be able to explain why they choose that specific animal, their strength and the goal they want to achieve as a team and individually during that weekend.
