Nurturing the Mind, Body and Spirit.

January is usually the hardest and busiest month of the year as parents tries to get their children into schools and money goes by so fast as it's all spent on school uniforms, books, food and ect. Many are left with little to live on throughout the rest of the month. The beginning is always hard but those are the same days that I am really thankful for Community Hope school especially when we strive not only to give a good education to these children but to also step in along side the parents and to help feed the children whether there is plenty or little to eat at home. For me personally, bring hope means nurturing the mind, body and spirit. All three are equally important and that is one thing I love about Community Hope School and it's aim of  trying to bring hope to our nation through all three. I have learned that in order to fully comprehend, one should be present in every circumstance and in order for one to be present, his/her compassion should be willing to be transformed into to actions. Some times that means giving up your own comforts to accommodate those you are planning and praying to reach. Jesus is our greatest example of this.

The Blooming Season.

Nabot, seated next to the President on the left.

It was such a great thrill for me to see one of our previous students in the News paper seated next to the president!
Nabot was one of our students at community Hope school but now he is currently in grade 11 at Windhoek Technical school. He came by Community Hope the other day to see us and to tell us the good news, that he and some of his old classmates from CHS passed grade 10 with flying colors!

I couldn't contain my excitement when I heard the news, I was so proud of him! I was and still I am so proud of them all! :) :)
Today Nabot is in gr. 11 and he is also part of a group of teenagers called the Poverty Eradication Warriors. The office of the President has offered its support to the group who planned a clean-up campaign as well as to run a soup kitchen in Katutura for the poor. I really thank God for carrying them all the way. I pray, trust and thank Him as He continues to carry them and save them for His name's sake. It is such an amazing blessing when you invest in someone's life, even if it is just a little bit and live to see their blooming season or first fruits. Some times the workers have to leave the fields and never get to see the flowers blooming but I am thankful that I got to see these ones and I hope to see the first fruits after high school.

Once the flowers begin blooming, workers leave the fields. First Day of school

The joy of the first day of school always fills my heart and my eyes with laughter and tears, it's never the same and it is always special!
I haven't seen my children for nearly two months so I was really surprise to come back and notice that some have grown a little bit taller than they were the last time I saw them. That's how fast time flies and that's how fast the have grown. It has really been exciting for us all to be back at school  again and to start all new. I am really happy because all my students passed and moved on to grade 7! They are now the leaders at school which means they get to serve and set an example for the rest of the school. On the other side we have the new grade1s. Always adorable and the most cutest darlings you have ever seen! So small. So shy. So innocent. They are the babies of the school now and we have a lot of foundation to lay and good characters to build because in 6 years from now on, God willing they will be our next leaders.

Living the Dream!

Growing up in a small town and not much to see, books became my form of traveling in my pre-teens. In those page I could be whoever I wanted to be and I could travel to places that I wished I could go to without having to pay so much money that we didn’t have.  Many of the books I read had their settings based in the Queen’s land and a lot of the authors I loved were born on the English soil.  I loved to read and watch anything that was related to England. Seeing the Buckingham Palace, the House of Lords, the great wheel, Golden Jubilee Bridge and many of these exciting things on screen gave me a taste of my dreams, though I wished for more...to see it in real life!
So I grew up and as I was busy leaving home for the city, I started a huge fire across the street by a small bump site and I burned all that I didn’t need including my unrealistic dreams of ever stepping a foot in London!

I am smiling to myself as I write this because God knew something beyond my greatest imagination. Though such hopes seemed so small and foolish, He saw it being worth the experience one day!
5 years later, my twin brother and I booked our flight to the States with the British Airways; we flew out of Namibia, through Johannes Burg and into London! We spent 4 hours in the airport but we didn’t see much. Hmm, a glimpse of  London, it was not quite what I hoped for…I wanted to see more. So on our way back I was finally able to live my long burned up dreams!
We had 11hours lay over and we decided that it was time to finally explore London!
And so we did. But while we were sitting in McDonald, we received an email that our flight got canceled! A delay that led to the best evening of my life in London!
Never have I imagined that I will ever spend a night in England. I jotted it down in my journal as God delayed to bless.  Something so small and not of much significance but yet He cared to bless us with such an amazing opportunity. I loved the people, their service and their accent. By God’s grace I was able to live my teen-hood dreams. Yet even with such an amazing opportunity, I came to the end of my day that night and as I looked back to the awesome experience I just had, I realized that; this too was just a fleeing pleasure not the ultimate joy, like I once use to think that it would be.
